Donald Trump Is Not My President

I am an American who did not vote for Donald Trump. Yet my vote for someone else is not why I say he is not my president. Since I’ve been able to vote, I’ve had no problem referring to the person in office as my president, regardless of whether or not they were my candidate. I am proud of my country and to call myself an American. I am thankful that I live in the USA.

Trump, however, has made it very clear to me that I shouldn’t be here, that I am the enemy. He wants only to be president of people who support and vote for him. He constantly vilifies the entire Democratic party. Anyone who publicly disagrees with him is automatically called some petty, childish name and treated as a hostile party. He and his minions have created a block so that nothing the Democrats try to do can move forward. This way Trump can refer to them as the “Do Nothing Democrats.”

According to Trump, all Democrats are evil. Democrats are going to drive the country into chaos and mayhem. All Democratic leaders are destroying the communities they serve. According to Trump, these Democrats want huge bailouts and need military assistance to get their states and cities under control. Citizens of those communities don’t deserve any assistance from “his government.” Apparently, those Americans should suffer because they were foolish enough to let someone who disagrees with him take office.

As we have learned from the Bob Woodward book and the audio tapes that prove it, Trump willingly lied to the American people about the severity of COVID-19. Trump is treating this country as one of his failed businesses. During a time of crisis he lies to prevent a panic by stakeholders who will cut their losses and run. A country can’t be run like a for-profit business. The citizens need to be informed in cases of emergency and crisis and given a plan of actions to take. When a hurricane is barreling toward our country the information isn’t withheld to avoid panic. The information is announced with clear guidance on what to do. There is no chaos in those regions when that is happening. Trump doesn’t trust the American people to react accordingly in a time of crisis. As a result, nearly 200,000 people are dead.

According to Trump, only the Republicans who fall in line and praise him can keep the country safe from this supposed death spiral. Only those who praise him and believe what he says should be allowed to live in America. All others should go back to where they came – even if they are from this country.
Trump doesn’t want to be president of the United States of America. His speeches, tweets, and actions make that abundantly clear. He wants to be president of the “United Republicans of America.” Even then, he wants only to be president of the rich republicans. He wants to abolish the poor, regardless of whether or not they voted for him. He told his non-rich followers that he would do things to make their lives better, but in the past three years what has he actually done to help the poor? He will use those followers to try and get re-elected. If that happens, he’ll walk away from them and continue to use his office to make himself, his family, and his friends richer. If given the opportunity, he would kick everyone else out of the country. He wants only to hear the voices of those who cheer his name and boost his ego. All dissenters deserve to be attacked and belittled. Trump wants to be president of a country that worships him and organizes military parades, the likes of which are only seen in countries with dictators and supreme leaders.

I can’t remember any other American President vilifying and attacking the opposing party for his entire term in office the way that Trump has. I can’t remember any other American President attacking private citizens and private businesses for his entire term in office the way Trump has. I do remember being able to have friends with opposing viewpoints and opinions. I remember discussions with family and friends, conversations that didn’t devolve into personal insults and attacks because of these opposing beliefs.
We can’t do that anymore. Trump has convinced his followers that all those who disagree with him and his views are evil. He has torn this country apart. No person, no business, no other country is safe from his attacks. This country will continue to be divided if he remains in office. He does not want to serve the people of America. He wants to use the power of our country’s highest office to rig a system that benefits only him and his own.

Donald Trump is not my president. He is incapable of leading this country and his incompetence will destroy this democracy.

Life as a dog person

I spent most of my adult life as a cat person. Cats are easy to care for, totally low maintenance. They’re full of personality too. As soon as I landed a new job working from home I had to figure out a way to ensure I wouldn’t spend the whole day sitting at my desk. Since I was a kid I wanted a dog. As an adult I knew how much work and attention they require. I decided though, that  since I’m going to be home all day to keep the dog company and let him out and take him for walks, it would be a great idea to adopt a dog. Read More

Thankful

Yesterday was Thanksgiving and I had a completely full house. We had a 20lb turkey, double batches of all the sides about 15 people, 9 of those people were adults. Poor Albarkus was super stressed out from the kids. Young little Ragnar was terrified by him and would scream a very high pitched scream when he’d get within 4 feet of him. He was forced to remain on a leash in his own home most of the time. They’ve only been gone for a few hours and I can tell he’s feeling so much better now.

It was wonderful having everyone here though. Seeing the kids, and my sister., and my husband’s family sitting together at the same table eating the delicious meal we created was a great feeling.Thanksgiving has long been my favorite holiday, however it has been a pretty hard one. Both of my parents died near the end of November. My dad actually died on Thanksgiving day, but since the date floats around year after year, Thanksgiving can fall on either the date dad died or the date mom died. This makes family gatherings hard. But I’ve always had people by my side helping to keep me from feeling left behind. Between my brother and sister and my amazing group of fiends I’ve always had somewhere to be on Thanksgiving with a pile of food.

Having people around you that love and support you is important. Making note of all the good things in your life that you are thankful for helps reinforce how full your life is.

Where I’ve been…

Well, I’ve been getting married, tattooed, losing weight, then gaining weight, changing jobs, mourning my cats, and getting a dog. I’ve been readjusting to life in the suburbs… the usual things people do as they get old.

I’m not entirely sure what I’m going to put here, but after reading a post from the Bloggess I was inspired to do something with this domain that I’ve had and never used. It’s been some time since I’ve done any writing or blogging. Since my new job has me working from home, I figure this might be a good way to reach out to the world and “talk” to people. Something other than social media.

I’ll start with some of my favorite things lately.  Read More

Hello world!

I’m back and ready to start blogging again. We’ll see how this goes and if I can get it all up and running again.  At the moment I’m counting down days until my big vacation to the Sandals Royal Bahamian resort in the Bahamas. I’ll for sure share my pictures and all kinds of stuff. I’m not sure what else I’ll be posting here, I’ll just make it all up as I go along. Feel free to comment with what you’d like to see here.
